Zucchini "Fries"
Last night’s dinner was full of wins and losses. The FAIL came from forgetting to add the bacon we had cooked for our Greek-inspired feta-stuffed BLT burgers. We noticed it on the counter after we finished dinner - oops, though the burgers were still tasty. The win was a recipe for veggies in disguise in the form of Everyday Food’s Zucchini Fries. Gotta love when “fries”...

Butternut Squash and Chorizo Enchiladas with...
Confession: I rip out a lot of recipes from magazines and file them away, yet most of my recipes and inspiration for things I actually cook comes from online. When we were moving, my boyfriend nearly lost it when a file of clippings splayed across the room. Today, I may have won some of his favor back by cooking these delicious Butternut Squash and Chorizo Enchiladas with Cinnamon-spiced Crema....

Crock Pot: Brown Sugar and Balsamic Glazed Pork...
2011 has been the year of the crockpot for me - a perfect way to do a little prep in the morning and come home to a great smelling house and meal. Now that I’m working from home, the crockpot is even better because I get to smell how recipes evolve throughout the day. So when I recently came across a recipe for Brown Sugar and Balsamic Glazed Pork Loin from C+C Marriage Factory while...

Curried Pumpkin Soup with Raita
Many people get excited for the holidays - I get excited for the return of the pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin beers, pumpkin muffins. I love pumpkin everything. So you can imagine my excitement when I picked up the circular at my local Bristol Farms market and saw a recipe for Curried Pumpkin Soup with Raita, which I’ll detail below with my slight alterations since it is simple and I...

Goat Cheese, Tomato and Garlic Puff Pastry
On our way up to the Adirondacks, we stopped by Fat Toad Farm, a sweet little farm that makes goat cheeses and goat milk caramel that I found out about on the Vermont Cheese Trail website. Since we also had some lovely homegrown tomatoes, we made the farm’s recommended Goat Cheese, Garlic and Tomato Puff Pastry recipe for a dinner party down on Cape Cod later in the week.  Alterations:...

Grilled Potato Salad
We started our vacation this week by going up to my boyfriend’s family home in the Eagle Lake area of the Adirondacks near Ticonderoga. Not content to just grill the lovely sausages we picked up from Two Brothers Meat Market in downtown Ti, I wanted to try grilling something else and decided to try a Grilled Potato Salad recipe from one of my favorite vegetarian sites, 101 Cookbooks. ...

Okonomiyaki (Japanese Pizza)
For my birthday this year, my boyfriend took me out to a little SF-neighborhood California-Korean-fusion spot called Namu. We were blown away by how delicious and cute the restaurant was. On our first trip, we had some amazing mushroom dumplings, the house kimchi and some beautiful sake samplers but the kicker was a Korean take on the Japanese pancake Okonomiyaki. We crave this pancake. It is...

Juicy Lucy Burgers
This weekend we moved to West Hollywood. One of the perks of our new apartment that I am most excited about is our extra-long balcony. At the top of our “stuff to buy for the new apt” list was definitely a BBQ. Since seeing the Minneapolis episode of Man vs. Food last year, we’ve attempted the city’s famous cheese-stuffed-inside-the-meat Juicy Lucy burgers a few times to...
